The project team thought that if people learned about resilience – what contributes to it and what gets in the way – they would be better able to navigate what life can throw at you. We believe the earlier in life this is learned the better. We hoped the information would help prevent mental health difficulties, as well as maladaptive ways of coping with stress such as substance use.
We don’t see R Life just as a workshop to run people through, and the information we’ve gathered will be more helpful if it’s modified to fit your setting. We invite you to explore what’s here and take away anything you find beneficial for yourself, for your family, and for people you work with.
R Life started as a local initiative in our community, and that original project demonstrates a number of ways the ideas can be used. For an overview of what was accomplished, please see the Imagine Campbell River Project Final Update. Both Imagine Campbell River (Imagine Campbell River Final Evaluation) and R Life (R Life Final Evaluation) were independently evaluated.
Please contact us if you would like more information, or if you would like to brainstorm about how these ideas might be put to work in your setting.
